This solution, EUFLEXXA, is a viscoelastic fluid designed to be injected into a joint. It is created through bacterial fermentation in a salt solution with no animal derivatives. In this instance, the active ingredient is sodium hyaluronate, a polysaccharide composed of repeating disaccharide residues of N-acetylglucosamine and sodium glucuronate joined together by means of the glycoside bonds beta-1,3 and (or) beta-1,4.
