HyalOne is a sterile, non-pyrogenic, viscoelastic solution of sodium salt hyaluronic acid extracted from a high molecular weight portion of bacterial fermentation. Always synthesized in the joint space, it constitutes one of the added components of synovial fluid that accounts for its viscosity and elasticity. These attributes are essential to moisturization and shock absorption, activities healthy joint fluid conducts to protect cartilage and soft tissues from mechanical injury. In situations of both post-traumatic and degenerative joint conditions, synovial fluid has a decrease of hyaluronic acid content, which leads to a decrease of viscosity, and consequently on compromised joint function and pain as symptoms.
